Where on the hand: On any mount, on or beside any line, on the Neptune mount at the base of the palm, and at the centre of the wrist or rascette.
What it looks like: Three short independent strokes forming a closed three-sided figure, 3–10 mm per side, clearly enclosed. It must not be an accidental corner made by main lines. Distinguish it from the Great Triangle — the large figure formed by the head, life and health lines, which is a region, not a mark.
Positive — intellectual aptitude, skill, and success without backlash. On each line
- **Head line** — sharp intellect, analytical power; academic and theoretical achievement plus strong communication. Under the Mount of Mercury: success in scientific research.
- **Heart line** — emotional intelligence. Chinese: financial luck or property through marriage or love.
- **Life line** — vigour, refined manners, appreciation at work, career success; at the end of the line, high admiration in old age. Caveat: a triangle close to but not on the life line is read as a warning of internal-organ trouble requiring attention.
- **Fate line** — career advantage through skill. With strongly marked Mars mounts: “fight or duel; or military success, at the date indicated.”
- **Sun / Apollo line** — “scientific knowledge supports artistic success.”
- **Health line** — Chinese: mental-health issues and psychological instability, especially with a poor head line — a negative reading contradicting the general rule.
- **Marriage line** — property or money from marriage.
- **Wrist / rascette** — at the centre: inherited wealth or administrative advancement; regular shapes: intelligence and specialised talent leading to wealth.
- **Structural note (Dale)** — the Lines of Life, Head and Liver forming a triangle denotes “prudence, manly wit and fair fortune.”

- **Jupiter** — Western: diplomatic cleverness, political subtlety. Indian: “people-friendly, moralist, efficient manager — common in high officials.” Chinese: military and political talent, discipline, stress resilience.
- **Saturn** — Western: aptitude for the occult sciences; with a star on the finger, potential for black magic. Indian: “knowledge of secret lore.” Chinese: career achievement and goal fulfilment after middle age.
- **Sun / Apollo** — Western: scientific knowledge supporting art. Indian: success in medicine. Chinese: versatility, learning capacity, accomplishment.
- **Mercury** — Western: “lower-grade political shrewdness” (backhanded). Indian: intelligent, brave, high will-power, business-efficient. Chinese: analytical skill.
- **Mars** — Western: military tactical excellence. Indian: brave and heroic.
- **Moon / Luna** — Western: “wisdom in using imaginative faculties.” Indian: “fairly uses his imagination power.” Chinese: business success, intelligence, management talent.
- **Venus** — Western: “calculation in love affairs” — cool-headed, slightly cynical. Indian: “enough control over himself in love-relations.”
- **Rahu (centre)** — “cleverness, strategic skill, gains from unconventional knowledge.”
- **Neptune / base of palm** — Chinese: “the punishment of being lonely all the life” — the one clearly negative triangle.
- **Upper and lower middle palm** — Indian: good luck in both.
Where the triangle is positive
- **Nearly everywhere** — the triangle is the second great benefic mark after the square, and one of Benham's six mount-strengthening signs.
- **On the head line** — sharp intellect; under Mercury, scientific research success.
- **On the wrist centre** — inherited wealth or administrative advancement.
- **On Jupiter** — diplomacy and leadership, common in high officials.
- **On Saturn** — occult knowledge and secret lore.
- **The exceptions** — Chinese readings of the triangle on the health line (mental instability) and on Neptune (lifelong loneliness), and a triangle near but not on the life line (internal-organ warning).
Indian special forms
- **Kamal (lotus, कमल)** — described as a triangle beneath the Jupiter mount on the heart line; among the most auspicious chinha in Samudrik Shastra.
- **Mandir (temple, मंदिर)** — a triangle sitting on top of a square; extremely rare and highly auspicious.
- **Star of David** — two overlapping triangles; see its own entry.
