Where on the hand: On any line or mount; specifically catalogued on the head line, on the Sun line at the heart-line junction, on the Mercury mount and on the Venus mount.

What it looks like: A small round depression or spot, distinctly dark or black against the palm; a deep black spot is the severe form.

The gravest of the dot colours: grave disease, and in its deepest form dangerous wounds. Indian sources also speak of a black mole “distinct from an ordinary mole” — a dark spot that damages the energy of the place it sits.

Read with care: The black dot carries several of the corpus's Tier 2 disability claims — deafness under Venus on the head line, eye disease under the Sun, “imminent danger of blindness” at the Sun–heart junction, and venereal disease on Venus. These are unfounded, health-adjacent and moralising; report them as tradition and never as a finding.
