Where on the hand: The pads and fleshy zones of the palm, named like a clock face from the radial (thumb) side going clockwise on a right hand: four finger mounts across the top, Upper Mars and Luna down the percussion, Neptune at the central base, Venus at the ball of the thumb, Lower Mars inside the Life line's start.

What it looks like: Raised or flat cushions of flesh, each named for a planet; every line's origin, course and ending in both traditions is described by which mount it starts on, crosses or ends on.

The mounts are the addressing system for all lines: a line has no meaning until you can say which mount it rises from and which it runs to. The same physical mount map underlies Indian Samudrika and Western cheiromancy.

Read with care: RECONCILED — this was a mirror-image error that would put every mark on the wrong side of the palm. LOWER MARS (Mars positive / active, निम्न मंगल) is the small area INSIDE the start of the life line, in the thumb web. UPPER MARS (Mars negative / passive, उच्च मंगल) is on the percussion, below Mercury and above Luna. The nine-fold map entry had these two swapped.
