Where on the hand: The fixed vocabulary of palm regions used to locate every line and mark: the radial (thumb) edge, the percussion (ulnar, outer) edge, the band between Head and Heart lines, the central hollow, and the wrist creases.

What it looks like: Not a mark at all but a naming grid laid over the palm — edges, bands, a triangle and a central hollow, plus the ridged skin texture that is deliberately excluded from line reading.

Every location in palmistry is given against this fixed map. Learn the map first or nothing else in a reading is drawable or repeatable. Indian and Western schools use the same physical landmarks even where their interpretations diverge.

Read with care: RECONCILED. This reference contradicted itself on whether Indian palmistry reads skin ridges. It does: the shankh/chakra fingertip system is one of the most widespread pieces of Indian hand-lore and is explicitly dermatoglyphic. What CLASSICAL Sanskrit sāmudrika ignores is charma rekha. The flat statement that 'Indian palmistry does not use skin ridges at all' should be read as applying to the classical texts only.
