What it looks like: A thickened knot or swelling in the line itself, as though the groove were tied.

Another of Saint-Germain's odd named terms, and one of the most extreme in the corpus: he reads knotting on the head line as “murderous tendencies,” with the colour deciding tense — “pale means past, deep red means future.”

Read with care: “Murderous tendencies” read from a thickening in a palm line is extreme Victorian criminology and should be flagged strongly wherever it is reproduced. It belongs to the same nineteenth-century project as physiognomic crime prediction; it has no evidential basis whatsoever and is defamatory if applied to a real person.
