What it looks like: Judged by whether the Fate line rises from the wrist or from Luna, whether the marriage line is clean and straight or forked and barred, and where the Heart line ends.

Benham called literal marriage-reading "most inaccurate and unscientific"; nothing on a palm indicates whether or when a person will marry, or to whom. Context correction: Benham's “most inaccurate and unscientific” / “makes our science ridiculous” are real, but in Ch. IX he is condemning the practice of counting marriages off the affection lines — not delivering a verdict on Indian palmistry. Quoted here they read as the latter.
