Also called: Visible veins · Veins on the palm
Where on the hand: Read on the back of the hand and, separately and more significantly, on the palm surface itself.
What it looks like: Four grades: veins invisible; veins slightly visible on the back only; veins prominent and standing out on the back; veins visible on the palm itself, showing blue or green through the skin.
Invisible veins are a classical auspicious sign of ease and abundant flesh. Prominent veins read as hard physical work and nervous energy; veins showing through the palm itself are the adverse case, read for delicacy of constitution and, in popular Indian practice, for financial leakage.
Read with care: Anaemia and circulatory strain are traditional inferences, not diagnoses; vein visibility depends mostly on body fat, age and skin tone.
