Also called: Hand colour · Complexion of the palm
Where on the hand: Read across the whole palm, and separately on each individual mount, where colour strengthens or weakens that mount's reading.
What it looks like: Judge the palm's ground colour in good light with the hand relaxed: pink, red, yellow, white/pale, or dark and blotchy. Then check each mount separately — red on a mount strengthens it, white weakens it, yellow makes it malefic.
Colour is the temperature gauge of the hand. It reads circulation, vitality and the pitch of the temperament, and it modifies every other indication: the same mount reads strong and active when red and firm, weak and latent when white and flabby.
Western reading: Western cheiromancy reads colour as temperament and circulation — sanguine, bilious, phlegmatic — and applies it mount by mount as a strengthener or weakener.
Read with care: The colour readings mix character judgement with folk medicine (anaemia, liver trouble, jaundice) and, in the yellow case, a frank moral censure. Present them as tradition; palm colour is not a health test.
