Also called: weakening conditions · when a chinha does not count
Where on the hand: Applies wherever a symbol is found.
What it looks like: Not a mark. The checklist by which a claimed symbol is disqualified or downgraded.
Consolidated from across the sources, these are the conditions under which an apparently auspicious mark yields little or nothing. Most disputes about a hand come down to one of these tests.
Read with care: NOTE ON THE INDEPENDENCE RULE. This reference states elsewhere that a figure formed by chance intersections of major lines is not a true sign. The money triangle and the great triangle are, by definition, formed exactly that way. Both are long-standing named figures in the tradition, so they are retained — but they are a stated exception to the independence rule, not an application of it. The two entries also gave different constructions; the great triangle is Life + Head + Health/Mercury, the money triangle is Fate + Head + a third line.
