Also called: Born-with and made hands · Prarabdha and effort · Passive and active hand
Where on the hand: A doctrine about the pair of hands rather than a mark on either — it assigns a meaning to each hand independent of gender.
What it looks like: Nothing to observe on one hand alone. The observation is comparative: hold the two hands side by side and note where the lines, mounts and marks agree and where they diverge.
Indian sources give a consistent doctrine: one hand shows what was allotted, the other what has been made of it. The difference between the two hands is therefore the most informative single observation in a reading — it measures how far a person has departed from their inherited script.
The left is the hand we are born with; the right is the hand we make.standard aphorism
