Where on the hand: Wherever a fish would form — most often at the lower palm near the Life line's end — but with only one half of the figure present.

What it looks like: Two short lines that cross once and then splay apart into an open V, with no closed oval body behind the crossing — a forked tail on its own. Only one semicircle of the fish is present, so the figure reads as a tail without a fish.

The half-form of the fish. The Garuḍa Purāṇa gives 'tail of a fish' as an independent mark meaning intellect; other Hindi sources give it as scholarship, wealth, and the inheritance of paternal property.
