Where on the hand: On any line or mount; specifically noted on the health line.
What it looks like: A small round depression or spot showing distinctly red against the surrounding palm, 0.5–3 mm.
The active, inflammatory, present-or-future dot. Red signals a feverish disposition and active inflammation. Destiny Palmistry adds the practical corrective that reddish dots “tend to be temporary.”
On each line
- **Health / Liver line** — “fever and inflammation.”
- **Any line, general** — feverish disposition; an active inflammatory episode dated at that point on the line.
- **Life line** — an acute febrile illness rather than a chronic condition.
- **Compare black dots** — black marks grave or chronic disease and past events; red marks the active and the future.
On each mount
- **Any mount** — the colour rule applies uniformly: red indicates an active, inflammatory disturbance of that mount's field rather than an established defect.
- **Mars** — combines with the mount's own reading (a wound from a fight) to indicate a recent or active injury.
- **Related colour rule** — deep red grilles pose greater danger than pale ones; a large deep-red star is Benham's destructive form; “knotting” on the head line is future when deep red, past when pale.
Where it is positive or mitigated
- **Temporariness** — Destiny Palmistry: reddish dots “tend to be temporary,” making red the most hopeful of the negative dot colours.
