The same line carries different names in different traditions and languages, and the same Latin name is sometimes attached to two different markings. This table gives the concordance so that sources can be cross-read without confusion.

Naming traps
- **Via Lactea vs Via Lascivia** — conflated in some texts, but Dale's Via Lactea is a travel/Luna line and Benham's Via Lascivia is a health/appetite line.
- **Family Ring vs Bracelet of Venus vs Restriction line** — the same thumb-base chain goes by all three names.
- **Ring of Venus vs Girdle of Venus** — the same arc; classed as a girdle because it encircles the upper palm, not a single finger.
- **Simian crease vs STPC** — "simian crease" is largely abandoned in medicine for its pejorative connotation.
Read with care: RECONCILED. This reference contradicted itself on whether Indian palmistry reads skin ridges. It does: the shankh/chakra fingertip system is one of the most widespread pieces of Indian hand-lore and is explicitly dermatoglyphic. What CLASSICAL Sanskrit sāmudrika ignores is charma rekha. The flat statement that 'Indian palmistry does not use skin ridges at all' should be read as applying to the classical texts only.
