Linewesternuncommon
Also called: Addiction Line · Line of Escape
Where on the hand: An extended version of the allergy/poison line: a line running from the Luna area through or across the Life line toward the Mount of Venus.
What it looks like: A long low line crossing the base of the palm from percussion toward the thumb ball, cutting the Life line on its way.
Read as the desire to escape reality; in the harshest traditional reading, dependency. The further it reaches into the Venus mount, the deeper the effect is said to be.
Read with care: This line is popularly called the "addiction line". There is no evidence any palm marking indicates substance dependency, and reading it that way to a person can do real harm. The sources that describe it explicitly say to read it cautiously and never as a diagnosis.
