इच्छा शक्ति · Ichha shakti
Also called: Will phalange · Mars section of the thumb · Nail phalange of the thumb
Where on the hand: The top section of the thumb, from the tip to the first crease — the one bearing the nail.
What it looks like: Compare its length and bulk against the middle phalange; the ideal has the two roughly equal. Note also whether it is thin, square, or very broad at the fore-part.
This is the seat of WILL, governed by Mars: determination, decisiveness, force, self-control and temper. Its size relative to the logic phalange decides whether the person acts before thinking or thinks instead of acting.
Western reading: Cheiro's readings of the thin, the short and the broad will-phalange are the standard set.
Read with care: One Western source (findyourfate) uniquely assigns logic to the first phalange and reasoning to the second, against nearly every other source; treat that as an error rather than a variant.
