Where on the hand: On the Mount of Venus, low down near the base of the thumb toward the wrist.

What it looks like: A loop of ridges lying in the fleshy ball of the thumb, its head usually pointing up toward the thumb.

Read as an innate musical responsiveness — a natural ear, an instinct for rhythm and pitch, and pleasure taken in music out of proportion to any training. Sources distinguish it from the rarer loop of stringed music and note that it indicates receptivity, not necessarily performing ability.
