Where on the hand: Read wherever it occurs on the palm surface, most powerfully in the upper palm over Jupiter or the Sun. Some traditions place it primarily on the soles.

What it looks like: A shallow dome or inverted-V arc — a wide, gently curved canopy line — with a short vertical line descending from its apex as the shaft, and often two or three short strokes hanging from the canopy's rim as fringes. Drawn from lines it typically appears as a broad arch riding above a mount, with a stem.

The most explicitly imperial mark. Kingdom, empire, sovereignty — and simultaneously spirituality at its maximum extent, since the chhatra is both the royal umbrella and the canopy of dharma. Also power, wealth and respect. Read as rāja-yoga in the palm regardless of birth circumstances.
