Where on the hand: The root of the thumb on Shukra Parvat, appearing when Venus is strongly or exaltedly placed.

What it looks like: A short straight central shaft with three or five short prongs splaying symmetrically from EACH end, the prongs curving slightly inward — a double-ended trident, or a dumbbell of spikes. Where it appears as a line rather than a figure: a short, unusually deep and sharply cut line at the root of the thumb.

Luck and wealth; the power to shatter obstacles. The Garuḍa Purāṇa lists the thunderbolt sign among the marks of royalty.

Read with care: A caveat is recorded in the Hindi sources: if the passion line (Venus girdle) is broken, the vajra rekhā can bring addiction problems alongside the wealth. Recorded as tradition, not as a health claim. Citation correction: Garuḍa Purāṇa LXV reads “The sign of a thunder-bolt appearing on the palm indicates the possession of RICHES” — riches, not royalty. Bṛhat Saṃhitā 68.45 gives the same reading (vajrāyudha → rich).
