Where on the hand: Immediately above the rascette/bracelets, at the base of the palm, in the middle of the boundary dividing the Mount of Venus from the Mount of the Moon, at or near the starting point of the fate line. One source places it in the middle of the bracelet lines. Centre roughly x 0.42, y 0.10. In practice this is the same territory Western palmistry calls the Mount of Neptune.

What it looks like: A low, naturally moderate elevation bridging the base of Venus and the base of Luna, just above the wrist creases, with the fate line rising out of it. This is the classic site for the fish (matsya) mark.

Ketu is the south lunar node, the dragon's tail — the headless body, ruling detachment, renunciation, past karma, occult knowledge, moksha and healing. On the palm it reads the root of the life: childhood conditions, inherited karma, and spiritual capacity. A purely Indian addition.

Read with care: Readings such as a large island meaning loss of the mother, and the gemstone remedies, are traditional doctrine and should be presented as tradition rather than prediction. Whether Ketu and Neptune are one mount or two is genuinely disputed.
