Finger or thumbbothcommon
मोटी उंगलियाँ · Moti ungliyan
Also called: Heavy fingers · Fleshy fingers
Where on the hand: Judged on the girth of the fingers rather than their length, and separately at the base and at the tip.
What it looks like: Broad, fleshy, cylindrical fingers with little taper; heavy third phalanges make the base of the hand look padded.
Traditional doctrine holds that the thicker the fingers, the less intellectual development — *"उंगलियां जिंतनी ही मोटी होंगी व्यक्ति में उतना ही कम बौद्धिक विकास पाया जाता है"* — with quick temper, simplicity, industriousness, appetite and materialism. Thickness concentrated at the base shifts the reading to appetite for food, comfort, possessions and sensuality.
Read with care: The claim that thick fingers indicate low intelligence is traditional doctrine with no evidential basis; report it as tradition.
